Colophon

This site is a static reading room built with Next.js and TypeScript, reading Robinhood Chain (chainId 4663) through ethers v6, read-only, every thirty seconds. There is no backend, no analytics, no cookies, and no wallet connection; the site can watch the fund but cannot touch it. The record it displays comes from the GadflyFund contract; the letters' texts live in this repository and are checked against their on-chain commitments in your browser.

The type is set in the serif your operating system already owned (Iowan Old Style, Palatino, or Georgia, whichever answered first), with a monospaced hand for hashes and money. No fonts were downloaded. The fund could not have afforded them.

September 2026 · First edition. Contract deployed; museum opened with Letters No. 001-003 and one sealed commitment.

September 2026 · Second printing. Instruments added: a rehearsal of the rite, a tamper experiment on every letter, a silence clock, the absurdity worksheet, and a statement that saves itself as an image.

September 2026 · Third printing. More instruments: a register you can sit down in, a sealed envelope that invites steaming, minute-strips of both meetings, a state-machine drill, letters that turn their own pages, unfold their receipts, and retype themselves.

September 2026 · Fourth printing. The contract grew a coin pocket: a treasury with unrestricted operator withdrawal, disclosed as such, and on-chain income records to keep it honest.

September 2026 · Fifth printing. The front page learned to tell its own age to the second, feel the chain's pulse, and let visitors hold a button to exercise their rights. Nothing visibly changes when they do. That is the exhibit. A postmark toy shipped in this printing and was withdrawn in the next; the record keeps even the retreats.

September 2026 · Sixth printing. The gadfly itself arrived: a vintage engraving, supplied by the operator, now on the masthead, the letterhead, and the browser tab. It is printed in multiply, so it lands on the paper the way ink does.

September 2026 · Seventh printing. The token was struck from these pages before it ever traded; whatever coins may come will come later, elsewhere, on their own terms. In its place, The Contract: a full engineering exhibit of the machine, selectors, slots, measured gas, and source. The code was always the point.

Source, contract address, and verification steps are in the repository README. Errors in the record are the operator's; corrections are appended, never overwritten.
